A Tale of Two Cities
Out Stealing HorsesA Tale of Two Cities is the novel Trond reads to its final pages during a snowy night at his remote home. Its account of Sydney Carton’s final moments gives the quiet reading episode a concentrated encounter with death and sacrifice, before Trond puts the book away and returns to sleep.
